Epic Destination Bucket List
Ever since starting this new adventure of Travel Nursing, and making traveling both the US and abroad a priority in my life all I’ve been thinking about is all the amazing places I want to visit. I have narrowed down the huge number to a short list f 4 locations I would love to see in the next 12 months. They are listed below in no particular order.
Iceland holds a particular appeal to me. I only just recently started wanting to go to Iceland. Until recently, I knew very little about this place. While I knew it existed I only started looking into it more when I found I could get there for a very affordable price as a stop before flying over to Europe. Iceland seems to be a very interesting location with a wide range of natural wonders and unique features. It is a land scattered with volcanic mountains and hot springs heated by the volcanic activity present underground. On the totally opposite side of the spectrum it also has snow-topped mountains and glaciers! Absolutely unlike anywhere I have ever been before, and I am extremely excited to visit for a week before flying to England in June!
I’ve been to Japan before. However, it was only as a very brief layover before continuing on to China when I was a kid. Japan has a wealth of culture and deep history as well as a huge span of different landscapes within it’s borders. The culture, at least as far as I can perceive is very different from the culture here in the United States. For that reason alone, it would be a very eye opening and special experience to visit and get a feel for how things are done there. One of my cousins and his family also live there, so it would be great to be able to visit with them and see how they live.
Italy is another location that I am especially excited to visit in a couple months on my two month long trip to Europe! I absolutely cannot wait to visit and see the meandering canals of Venice, the ancient power of Rome and the charming cliff side colonial towns of Italy! Not to mention sampling all of the wine and pizza it has to offer! I could absolutely see myself spending more than the week I have laid out for myself to tour around Italy.
I was told about a trip to Nicaragua a little while ago by a friend and it instantly got put on my must visit list! Nicaragua is a tropical country just south of Honduras and North of Costa Rica. It is not nearly as heavily visited or as large of a tourist attraction as Costa Rica but it has a definite flare and allure for the traveling adventurer. It has everything from charming colonial towns like Granada with many an old historic building to visit. Lush rainforests with countless unique animal and plant species, and even young fairly active volcanoes that you can “volcano board” down! Talk about exciting! And of course we cannot forget the many beaches for relaxing, snorkeling, scuba diving and surfing! Nicaragua has it all.
I likely won’t be able to visit every one of these locations this year, but I do hope that I can at least visit three of the four! Do you have any travel plans for this year? What are a couple of locations that are on your “must see” list?
