Better than Chipotle?!
Alright, I just had to write something about this. I went on a date the other night. You know how it is, just the typical first date type of deal. Met at a bar for a drink and some tasty eats, asked each other typical first date questions, laughed at each other’s not always funny jokes, played some pool and goofed around. Too the important part though! Somehow… I mentioned chipotle. Don’t ask me what the context was or how it came up. I don’t remember. But if you’re from the east coast you know what a big deal Chipotle is these days. Not sure if it’s out on the west coast or how big it is out there… but on the East coast and definitely in the North East…. IT’S BIG. But this girl told me that THEY DON’T HAVE CHIPOTLE out here!?!? I was shocked. I was dismayed. I was appalled! Not having Chipotle is like not having Starbucks, or not having Dunkin Donuts!
Of course being from the Boston area, my next question before running home to start packing my bags and cancel my work contract was do you have Dunkin Donuts? Luckily for me, and the Hospital here in town they do in fact have DD’s. Not one on every street corner back home but they have a couple. My next reaction was to pull out my phone and google the nearest Chipotle location to see if this lil lady was just pullin my leg. Sadly, she was not. The nearest Chipotle was down in El Paso, TX nearly a whopping 45 miles away! I was heartbroken. How am I to get my fast Mexican food fix around here? “We’re too good for your Easterner Chipotle around here” she tells me. I responded by asking her how they could be too good for Chipotle when I passed a busy Taco Bell just down the street, which is far worse quality food than Chipotle in my mind. Supposedly they have better burrito places around here. Which might not surprise me considering how close we are to Mexico… but will they be fast food? And will they be as efficient? Will they have the “secret” “Quesarito” item which you can just feel clogging your arteries as you east it? Only time will tell.
